It's Me

New Here
Hi,
So I got diagnosed a few days ago with PTSD after about 6 months of symptoms and being passed around different people.
I just need people that understand and can help me - I'm still at school and was wondering how people got help. I'm getting it but not till my exams finish.

Please help me

Hi and welcome to the healing site that you found. You are so lucky to have found this group of people here while you are so new at healing and recovery. How I wish I had the support of the people here when I first started therapy. Would have spared me the many victimizations I suffered while in the therapy process.

I hope this will help you as much as it has helped me. Hugs.

@It's Me Firstly as @gizmo says WELCOME to the forum.

You really could not have found a better place to come expecially as you have to wait for your Exams to finish.

I may look daft in my Avatar picture but I have suffered in silence for 41 years since the first time I was abused.

I like you found this site soon after proper diagnosis this time last year. I am only a year into my recovery but I can hand on heart say if it were not for this site I would not be coping well at all.

Please whilst waiting for therapy come to the site and Post threads and come to the Chat room. We are here to support each other and offer helpful advise and tips on coping with our PTSD symptoms, triggers and flashbacks.

Kindest :hug:s

Hi @It's Me

Welcome to the forum!

Getting a PTSD diagnosis can be a shock and a relief at the same time. Take some time and learn all that you can about PTSD. The doctor/counselor/therapist that gave you the diagnosis should be able to answer some of your questions and if they are not a therapist, perhaps they can refer you to a trauma therapist or where to find resources at your school.

This site is a great place to start learning and the support here is amazing as you work on recovery.
