Finding things hard, during 2 week break

I'm struggling a lot, without my therapist. There has been a 2 week break and I still have to wait until Tues to talk to her. This is all so hard 💔😭

Do you normally have a difficult time during breaks? If not, what do you think changed this time?

How do you usually handle therapy breaks? (Whether they’re something you look forward to, aren’t bothered one way or another, or find them really difficult.)

my peer support network is usually an effective tool for me for getting through the pro breaks.

listening. . .

A good time to look up or think about the skills you need to take breaks like this.

I would talk to T about getting some skills that work for you together so you can handle breaks better.

Breaks are soooo painful. They feel too long, too much, create instability. It's really really tough.

What helped me during them was writing about it and seeking support like you are.
I would look at her picture on her website about 100 times a day. To try and feel close to her.
I would sometimes write things to her (not sending them)
And I would talk to her about it before her leave, and on her return.

The first session back , I would be a bit anxious and sometimes still a little unsettled as I reconnected with her.

Over time, building on your sense of self really really really helps to lesson this pain of separation. But that takes time. In my case, a long time.
You'll see my diary and threads littered with this kind of conversation over the past 5 years!
