Been trying to get a good picture of this Butterfly a while. Finally got what I wanted. Landlords garden.

Full size Sharp-Shinned hawk; Accipiter Striatus. Often confused with Coopers hawk. Wikipedia: “These birds surprise and capture all their prey from cover or while flying quickly through dense vegetation. They are adept at navigating dense thickets.”

Another mini vacation James, even camping this time. I love camping! Thanks for the escape!

James, I just spent time going through this entire thread. I'm sorry I didn't before...we're supposed to be friends and I didn't take the time to, that makes me feel like shit.

All your pics are so awesome. I especially love the one of the butterfly. Did I tell you a couple/few weeks ago I was having such a shitty day at work and I went on break. I sat outside on a bench by myself to smoke a cig. This butterfly flew up, landed on my leg and stayed there the whole 15 minutes I was out there. When it was time for me to go in, it flew away. It made the rest of my day so much better. Your pic. made me think of that.

I'm glad you enjoy doing what you do. And I'm glad you have shared it. Thanks.

Beautiful as always James. I love the rock outcroppings at the campground. Wow.....definitely could handle camping there!

Thanks so much everyone. Glad you liked the Hummingbird pictures. I sense better Hummingbird photo days ahead. Jadebear that is a really neat story about the Hummingbird. It may have sensed you are a brave soul on a journey. And wanted to be near you. In any event, that is a wonderful sign.

Just one worthy image today. A clear detail of the Cactus Wren.

Thanks James, just got caught up after not looking on here for a while. It's sort of like knowing you have a treat stashed away for when you can take the time to enjoy it. The anticipation is a good thing and then to get on and see everything...ahhhhhh.

Just so very happy my friends and fellow sufferers are enjoying these images. Many thanks to Anthony and this forum for allowing me to post these. I am touched by the response and just so very grateful for each day, and my blessings. Thank you seedling, your reply brought tears of joy to my eye.

I absolutely love the campsite! Not only a fun and beautiful photo, it provided a moment of mental escape. I want to set up camp there. Thank you so much for sharing all these wonderful photos. In the insanity of life, it is easy to forgot to notice the beauty. Your photos are gentle reminders to me to notice the beauty. They truly brighten my days and I feel so grateful that you take the time to share them with us. Plus, I now have a new interest in visiting the desert!

Thank you for sharing your gift!

TGIF. Hope everyone had a productive week. Here’s a few images from the past week or so.

Posing nicely on an overcast day, a White Crowned Sparrow. Lack of direct sun (flat light) made for nice detail.

“Hiding”. You can’t see me “I’m hiding”. It was a really hot day.

Patiently posing while I stumble around and finally get a descent shot; Costa’s Hummingbird. Tiny, adorable.

My friend the Verdin. Nest visible lower right. At 4.5“ in length, Verdin is one of the smallest non-hovering birds in North America.

Hope these images bring a moment of pleasant distraction, or a smile. Thank you.
