For Those Without Family, How Do You Spend Christmas?

This year I have chosen to spend the holidays by myself to avoid holiday traffic.

I did this for the first time last year and was better prepared for Thanksgiving than Christmas so I will have a comfort day planned for each holiday.
 
I'm sorry it's also hard for others.

I wish I could just work. But every time I tried to keep on working during the holidays, I got too depressed to actually do anything.

Last year, I visited a close friend and her family in Italy. It was nice to see her and be there, but still, I mostly felt depressed and I felt bad about it.

This year, I want to take the trans siberian railway to Irkoutsk. I have this fantasy about Siberia in winter. And I just love being in trains for long periods of time. I'm not sure why. Doing nothing but watching the landscape pass by makes me feel good. It's so peaceful to have nothing else to do. Also, I feel less out of place when I travel, because noone else feels home in a train.

I just haven't decided yet if I'm willing to spend that much money into it. :)

I broke all ties with my family. Parents and brother were abusive, I...
I lost my mom a couple of months ago and she is, was really the only one that I could call family. Had to cut ties with the other members of my family too. Cut ties with an abusive dad who would love to drive me to the grave too and with a brother who is desperate for money and will grasp at any straws to get away from an abusive woman himself.

I am very active so most of the time loneliness is really not an issue.
 
The Salvation Army is usually looking for bell ringers. Food banks usually need help. Nursing homes probably have people who'd like someone to talk to. Meals on wheels probably needs volunteers. There are probably none profits looking for people to give people rides to doctors appointments. The VA might need volunteers.

Depends on where you live. There are almost always people who need help and groups of volunteers who are trying to help them.
 
Just sit and watch my favourite movies and eat food I like and read my favourite books, play the wii or ps3 too, watch youtube vlogs. No point spending time with abusive people/people who don't give a damn about me or causing more stress than necessary. Oh and be grateful the days will gradually become lighter and longer.
