I've been out of therapy for about 7 months now. The time off was good, because I learned to self-regulate, but I need to return to deal with new issues as well as control physical symptoms. (I do neurofeedback which helps with insomnia, thought rumination, migraines, and even tinnitus.)
I spoke with my new therapist tonight and told her about my past experience with neurofeedback. She wasn't surprised with my past adverse reaction to certain protocols whereas my last therapist pretty much blamed me, saying I was too "sensitive" for neurofeedback. Hurrah for validation! Plus, this therapist specializes in trauma and uses the most up to date neurofeedback technology. I'm so excited! And even better, she accepts my insurance! (A RARITY as most neurotherapists don't accept insurance period.)
The only drawbacks are that I'm technically on a waiting list as she's so busy, but she has cancellations and such so hopefully will be able to accommodate me, and she's 1 1/2 hours away :-(
