Hi! I'm very tired at the moment, but I found this forum by happy accident and hope to contribute. No, I did not (yet) read the discussion - but I will and it is certain to be interesting. Right now I feel like Hal the murderous misprogrammed computer in the old movie .... which was it.... 2001: A Space Oddysey? So certain I spelled that wrong, damn! Anyway, when my mind, ..... and Hal sings a popular song from 1906 or so ..... "Daisy, Daaaayyyyyyzeee,
G I V - MEEEE you - orrr A N serrr , dooooo....." Maybe somebody's seen this and will remember what I was trying to refer to ... but before he gets bogged down to his last gasp of artificial intelligence as (David?) one of the men, or only remaining man, pulls out the huge memory banks that made up Hal. Just a few moments before, same scene, Hal says to his destroyer, "I'm losing my mind, I can feel it." If this calls up anything in one's mind or not, I have to go rest now, or I'll be warbling out slo-mo 1900's songs myself.... narcolepsy, severe ADHD, PTSD, and all the other letters too, except for "e" and "z." (add Bipolar Disorder). Don't feel sorry for me, don't even think about it, just let me be and all will be fine. I try to be upfront and "out" as a person with certain disorders, because I want to be part of a land that is discovered. I have nothing to be ashamed of, and yes, by the way, I do have a very high IQ, and I'm curious about what differences it might or might not make in a person. I hope I manage to offend as few people as possible. (I can be a little awkward sometimes.)
I hope to be back soon! -- sincerely, Dawn
