It is truly horrific. I expect to make some enemies for saying this, but I've never seen one of these threads posted for victims of mass killings in Syria, or Afghanistan, or Somalia, or Nigeria...

You are so right, Mal. We should, but my problem is that U.S. news doesn't cover these things usually,at least not in any depth. I was just thinking along the same lines today and feeling guilty about that.

I think it is more than fair to say that loving human beings detest all evil deeds perpetrated on innocent human beings, no matter where they take place.

You are more than welcome MC. I think our thoughts and prayers at this present time should be with the people of France. If all loving people would stick together rather than become divided by petty grievances, than the human debris that perpetrates acts such as these would cease to exist.

I am heartbroken and stunned, once again, over the darkness and loss of life in the world. 77 families in France are devastated tonight, so many others probably quite shaken.

Myself and others have posted about attacks in other less westernized countries. It doesn't get the same level of attention. I think people in the "west" become a bit numb to it until it hits places where it is less common to happen. Then it seems more scary, because it's perceived (accurately or not) to be more likely to happen in our hometowns too. It's human nature...

It's like the various divisions happening in the US. One person cries out in pain and there is usually others in pain too. Comforting over one loss of life doesn't deminish the loss of life anywhere else.

It is tragic and horrifying wherever these attacks occur. It is time to unite under a banner of love.

As do I for saying this, but here goes. If it weren't for France's liberal immigration policy, the attack tonight, the Paris attacks last November, and the Charlie Hebdo attack would never have happened. This is a FACT however politically incorrect.

I wouldn't place it all on the liberal immigration policy. JMHO. And that's all I'll say about that as I feel my opinion would be even more controversial.
