Frequency Specific Microcurrent To Treat Ptsd

I would like to know who told you that your nerve leg symptoms are PTSD related - especially 15 years after the accident? I have these symptoms, called sciatica and they are from spinal injury and not brain injury. I also have left sided body pain, specifically shoulder, arm and neck but they are all related to my back injury.

I had 2 different MRIs of my lower back, looking for back injuries. The Dr who read the MRI said that he wished his back looked as good as mine. I get these funny nerve signals going down my back and spine. I believe that the PTSD/mental breakdown messed up my entire nervous system. As far as left sided PTSD symptoms, my left arm is affected. My doctor told me that people with psychological damage from PTSD will sometimes shut down the left side of their body, while those with severe physical injuries and PTSD will often shut down the right side of their body. Your left side, he said, is you more feminine, emotional side. Fear shuts it all down.

May I ask at what point did this occur as could it have been an early onset on menopause?

I thought the same thing, at first. It was this winter, and I was 48. The severe hot flashes quit after 6 weeks. I am still having normal periods, and no hot flashes now.

I have read this too, and still no mention for this being a cure for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder any where.

How did PTSD affect the nerves in your legs, and the left side of your body and brain? What were the symptoms of this?

The left sided symptoms were immediate, after the accident. I remember sitting in my bedroom, looking in the mirror, and trying to comfort the left side of my body, (and wondering what was wrong with me). I felt like I could not think anymore, and started falling asleep in school. I felt a split in my mind, like the left half of my mind had closed down. Some time later, the "split" dropped down into my body so that my body felt split. I did not have an MRI then.
None of those physical symptoms you describe, are explained by PTSD, PTSD being an anxiety disorder, not a physical disorder. To begin with PTSD does not occur immediately after an accident.

I too have read some articles now on FSM, and I haven't read anything that states its a cure for PTSD.

All I can say is that I'm pleased you have found something that is helping you.

The symptoms that I have described (ie, "split" in my body) show severe dissociation. The parts in my brain that were shut down due to fear have opened back up. I now have emotion; can cry freely (could hardly cry before, but I could scream into a pillow in frustration/fear!). My body-especially left side-- is no longer inhibited due to fear. I am dancing all over the house, to music! Intimacy with my husband is much different, because my emotions have opened up. I am making new neural connections, putting everything back together. (The mental breakdown did a lot of damage, as well as the PTSD). My doctor told me that he has now helped dozens of vets with PTSD.

Hi there,

All I can say is that I'm pleased you have found something that is helping you.

Me too.

Also, I am glad you're following through with your experiences and sharing it with us; I find this a very interesting thread. I haven't yet had sufficient time to read the info. you've led us too, but thus far I am following and reading your experience KarenR, and very glad you continue to share it with us.

;)Thank you & Welcome to the Forum!

Hi Karen,

Your introduction thread is bordering an agenda, and I am telling you now, tread carefully. Unless you're one of the worlds leading scientists, who has come out stating a cure now exists for PTSD, then DO NOT make false claims please, as what works for you is great, but that does not make it a cure for PTSD, or whether you actually ever had PTSD to begin with.

You have been warned. When an expert comes out stating a cure has now been found, excellent, until then, be very careful trying to push an agenda here based on your opinion vs. scientific fact. This includes all areas of the forum.

Hi Anthony,
I guess that I do not know the rules since I am new to the site. Just telling you all what I have found that has HELPED ME, because I know how devastating, and confusing, and isolating, and debilitating, that PTSD is, having lived with it for 34 years. I also know that PTSD does cause structural and chemical changes in the brain. There is a government study that I found on the internet recently that is doing MRIs on the brains of PTSD sufferers, in order to give reseachers some idea of what happens to brain with PTSD. It can be found at: clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT00397111 . (Put a www in front of the link) The study is being put on by the National Institute of Health. Here is a quote from the study:

"This study is intended to help develop new MRI imaging techniques for studying mood and anxiety disorders. Researchers believe that depression and anxiety disorders may cause structural and functional changes in the brain. This study will optimize the way MRI scans are collected to look at brain structure and examine how the brain behaves while subjects perform particular tasks."

Upon registering you have to agree to the terms (rules and legal policy) of the site.... [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/c/pages/ptsd-forum-rules/[/DLMURL]

I also suggest you read this Wiki page on Chemical Imbalance [DLMURL]http://www.ptsdforum.org/c/wiki/chemical-imbalance/[/DLMURL]

Karen, from looking at your link and reading what you have written, this is a study, that has been in progress since 2006, and yet the 'study' still has not posted any results. It has an estimated enrolment number of 250 subjects. Whether it has reached this very small number of participants in this study is unclear, and as I say, this study has not produced any results, suggesting to me, that they have proved nothing, or nothing that is statistically viable.

I'm not disputing that this has helped you, whatever your issues (whether that be PTSD or something else), but as Anthony has said, I find it very worrying that you come to a forum full of PTSD sufferers (some of who are vulnerable), and make claims about a cure, that has no scientifically proven evidence.
