Here is a link where you can do your own research about the structural changes in the brain due to PTSD:

Karen

We know the brain changes with PTSD, as do all the specialist, therapist and scientists.

What is required by so many thousands of people the World over is a cure.

Which as to date, is not available. recover and management yes, cure a definite no.

["None of those physical symptoms you describe, are explained by PTSD, PTSD being an anxiety disorder, not a physical disorder."}

I guess that I am responding to one of the moderaters earlier who said the above quote.

Karen, I am not disputing that FSM is helping you (and there's no need to shout), but I do question the statements you make, that are simply based on your own experience, not on any scientific evidence.
Your body then begins to make new neural connections through every part of your brain that has shut down due to the PTSD.
- what evidence do you have for this?
PTSD causes PHYSICAL changes in your brain and nervous system.
What evidence do you have for this?
I believe that the PTSD/mental breakdown messed up my entire nervous system. As far as left sided PTSD symptoms, my left arm is affected. My doctor told me that people with psychological damage from PTSD will sometimes shut down the left side of their body, while those with severe physical injuries and PTSD will often shut down the right side of their body. Your left side, he said, is you more feminine, emotional side. Fear shuts it all down.
Again, any evidence for this? As a Medic, I've never heard of such occurrences.
The left sided symptoms were immediate, after the accident. I remember sitting in my bedroom, looking in the mirror, and trying to comfort the left side of my body....... felt a split in my mind, like the left half of my mind had closed down. Some time later, the "split" dropped down into my body so that my body felt split.

My body-especially left side-- is no longer inhibited due to fear.
If the left side of your mind was closed down, then the right side of your body would be affected. That's basic science that the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice versa.

All I am saying is, have your opinions, and tell people what worked for you, but make it very clear that these are based only on your own experiences, and that there is no medical evidence to back up your facts. We will not tolerate people coming here telling everyone there is a cure for PTSD, when that is simply not true. When you have scientifically proven data for a cure for PTSD, please feel free to share that with us, in the mean time, keep your information as your opinion only.

Then I assume since you can't be bothered to read my name, other than moderator, you are replying to me.
And no, I've read those scientific reports - they do not relate to the diagnosis of PTSD, they use a minute study group population, which really have no statistically viable information that is of interest to me.

The fact remains that PTSD is an anxiety disorder which is diagnosed by a qualified Psychiatrist through various questioning relating to psyche, not by doing brain scans. You have not mentioned any symptoms that I can recall in your posts, that actually relate to you having PTSD. I could go back and read through your posts, to see if I've missed something, but quite honestly, since you can't even be bothered to learn how to quote properly, or reply to me by name I can't be bothered either. I've spent too much of my time trying to find evidence for your claims. But frankly it has been a waste of my time, because I cannot find a single thing that states FSM is a cure for PTSD.

You are welcome here, but don't try to preach untrue claims to members of this forum, it will not be tolerated.
As for this conversation, I've said all I need to say, and will not be replying further.

I asked my doctor about this. He said that 80% of the fibers cross over and control the opposite side of the body, and 20% control the same side. I also remember this from my anatomy class.

Look, y'all, I got on here to try to help because I have finally found help. I am still healing; not ready yet to do all of the research which I am sure that I will want to do after my brain is all back together. I suggest that anyone who is looking for answers, find an FSM provider and ask them their questions about FSM and PTSD. The FSM providers have had schooling for this. I have not have had the schooling; am simply on the receiving end of FSM. I will, however, ask my doctor if he can give me some link that talks about FSM and PTSD.

Cherry blossom, I did not give your name because I was trying to protect you, since I was saying something that was not going to put you in a favorable light.

since I was saying something that was not going to put you in a favorable light.

It is not appropriate or acceptable to post what will put another member in an unfavorable light.

This thread will now be closed and as you have displayed no other interest in the forum other than this thread it is believed your only purpose here is to promote the method of FSM.

You have been banned my me until Anthony looks at this and you may continue to remain banned - his decision.

I only see half arsed information coming out of this... most of which is already know, and as already stated, completely unproven assumed facts, hence assumed, claiming they are otherwise. And I doubt a doctor is the best source of information on neurology, when neurologists themselves don't have the answers to PTSD in the brain yet, other than some basic areas that trauma affects the brain, what some areas do, yet they don't know how or why, they don't get the same constant results across every person examined, and they clearly state they know and understand very very little about the brain.

I am always avid to listen to people healing, and that is great... Karen, well done on healing and I am glad you found something that worked for you, but none of what your stating above is proving a thing that is not known about PTSD, and your accusations towards facts are only outlining what you have found to try and back your assumptions and opinions vs. actually showing the unbiased facts of the situation, all due to promoting what worked for you.

I could promote a crap load of things that worked for me, but it doesn't make them right, nor does it mean they will work for everyone else either.

When will people actually get how to heal trauma vs. learning how to manage PTSD? It has nothing to do with a technique specifically, all garbage... its like an individual running conversation with the person, specific to their trauma, then trying to resolve specific, individual, aspects of what they feel and think using known existing techniques... and that only covers the trauma... managing PTSD is about becoming primarily assertive, boosting your self esteem, stress management, etc.... all of which can be done a myriad of ways. NLP as an example, is a very effective method to learn communication skills, aka: becoming assertive. It won't heal your trauma though, nor would it boost your self esteem to the level required... there are other methods needed to achieve this.

Its a combination of many methods, all of which have many variations, all of which are unique and specific on a case by case basis.

Threads like this only achieve where it has ended up... full of nonsense and locked.
