Whooping cough is rough. Lots of rest. I know of quite a few people who have been vaccinated against whooping cough and still got it. It does not always take, and I think some strains are changing so not covered as effectively, so if you have a really bad persistent cough then even if you are vaccinated it is worth checking out especially if you are around babies. One of the mums at school had to insist her child get tested, as the GP was ignoring the symptoms because she had been vaccinated.
Chicken pox vaccine does not also guarantee immunity. My kids still got chicken pox but a milder form. Even german measles there is no guarantee. That is why they check in pregnancy to see if you are immune. You can have a blood test to see if the vaccine has worked, sometimes, you need to get several doses.
