Well, just to be sure, I did the test 2 more times from different websites, in different formats, and still came up with the same.

The breakdown of the personality type is what blew me away, because it explained soooo much! I woke up feeling pretty crappy, but I'm feeling a smidgen more like :) now.

Hey thebub! I'm glad it helped explain. I posted in hopes it would clarify things. Also, I just read a book about introverts called "Quiet: The power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking." seriously why should we feel bad for being introverted? Don't, be whoever YOU are or want to be, not what everyone else wants.

Safenow are you an INFJ too?

Interestingly enough, I didn't use to be an introvert, when I was younger I was quite outgoing, as time went on I withdrew more and more into myself.

When I read the personality description it was like OMG --> falls off chair!

I have a question.

Does our personality type change as we change with our healing of our PTSD?

I tried to do the test but do not understand some of the questions. Hence it probably is not accurate. Will try again.

I'm not sure. Mine did seem to change, but a friend who is a certified therapist suggested once fairly recently that there may be some areas of the test where my answers change depending on my base point mental/emotional state. I just consider it for what it is at the moment, and don't read overly much into it.

I was glad though to switch the "judging" for the "perceiving" on the retest. I had been working on changing my perceptions for a couple of years... looking for alternative "more beneficial" perceptions. So it was a bit of a lift to see it reflected in the test result.

Some say personality can be changed others say it stays pretty consistent throughout life. With the test I am not sure. I guess it just depends.

I'm ENFP I took the test years ago when I got laid off and was trying to figure out what to next. It said sales or advertizing. So I went into sales. It fit my personality well. My sister is an INFJ she works as an independent consultant she does a lot of her work from home by herself. There is a difference between being an introvert and isolating.

The world treated me badly for a long time and my dream was to take my books and go live on the the top of a mountain and never see anyone again. That is different from someone who prefers quiet and alone. Just because your and introvert doesn't mean you can't connect with others. You connect with people of this forum I read some of your posts.

There is another thing out there that does a survey of your character strengths. It is at viacharacter.org. Smart people play into their strengths and develop the abilities in the areas they lack. Being an introvert doesn't mean being less than. I hope you continue to do well in school and therapy
Peace

I scored an INTJ, but it mentionned there was barely or no difference between the Thinking and the Feeling. The only one that I scored as distinctive was the Judgement which I am not surprised because of my studies, I have to do many comparasions and have come to the conclusion that one size DOES NOT fit all, so I always have been pretty analytic. Being an introvert has it good sides - like having a good listening ability which served me more than well as an intervenant. So I'm not surprised by it's outcome. But I do know the score would have been different before the PTSD episode.

I'm an INFJ, too, just puttin that out there, lol

Ashdawn8287, how did you like "Quiet?" I was thinking of reading it as a sort of validation exercise, and I know it has great reviews. I just don't know anyone who has read it.

I'm working on getting to know myself and liking who I really am. I just applied for one of the best Master of Social Work programs in the country (US). I got wait-listed, but this just means that once a slot opens up, I can be considered since I met all of the requirements :woot:

Well, I'm not trying to brag, lol! It's just that I got into the program because of the type of person I am. I gravitated to the social sciences while in undergrad, and it has been a great decision for me (though I struggled greatly with it at the time). I have a real passion to work with others, helping them help themselves, basically. I'm good with people (especially kids), kind, gentle, great listener. I also have strong empathic and intuitive skills (I get "vibes" from people, places, and they're always right!).

Just wanted to say I'm glad you posted this, ashdawn8287 :)
I have extensive history with the Myers-Briggs test, but I'm just now starting to be able to embrace myself instead of try to force myself to fit into places where I simply can't. Like you said, why should I do that?? I'm tired of pretending and using those empathy and intuition skills to figure out what people expect or want me to be. I need to be able to relax and be me. I resonate with these posts so much
