Future Plans For PTSDForum.org

I think your idea of having a general PTSD forum, and a seperate combat forum, and a seperate sexual abuse forum are great. Along with a seperate anxiety forum, and a seperate depression forum. However, within these forums, I think it is important that carers and sufferes have a place to interact. I like the way it's set up now, whereby most users can see both sufferes and carers section, with just one section each remaining private. I don't have a 'carer' as such but for me reading alot of the carers posts has helped me to interact better with my friends and also helped me to verbalise my needs.

Just to be clear, I think that all should be on one forum and have sections like we do now for carers and sufferers, etc. For all the reasons mentioned.

Since I am relatively new to the site, I usually keep my comments to myself; but I felt this was important enough to mention.

My husband is a veteran and we have friends are also veterans and still active. Because PTSD affects such a small percentage of the general population, I have never met anyone with it. However, even though my PTSD does not stem from military service, it is from our military friends that our family has received the most support.

This support does not come from discussing traumas, but discussing what works and doesn't work when dealing with PTSD. Fortunately, the Veterans Administration is doing better in diagnosing, treating, and supporting veterans with PTSD. Private practice is lagging far behind, and our veteran friends have really helped me with their advise and experience. Additionally, they have helped my husband in dealing with my PTSD.

My rambling point is that even though an individual's PTSD my be caused by different sources of trauma, the symptoms and treatments are related. There may be more benefit in shared information.

Just a thought.

I totally agree with you Nicolette. I've learnt so much from what sufferers have written and with that insight have been able to understand and ease the difficult conversations with my husband.

Anthony, in my opinion, excluding carers from the main sites would be a step backwards. We are in this together.

There are no plans for anything at this stage that are set... so there is no need for any user to worry about anything. As things get developed, further discussion will take place about specifics.

Maybe you can add a spouse/significant other section onto the combat ptsd forum as well as keeping our carer section here. Thank you for making all of this possible! This site saves a lot of my days!

I agree about appreciating carer threads and not removing that section. I think it helps both sufferers and carers to be on same site... different topics of trauma are good but to separate the carer/sufferer seems not necessary. The very title "carer" means they want to be involved and even if I do not check the threads always on that section... having to scroll past it reminds me of their very important roll in a sufferers progress and healing.

My knowledge of computers is limited. I don't know much about setting up sites, etc. I imagine it's hard to manage such a large site as this one. I like the site as it is.

I like to hear from people who have PTSD from whatever source. I don't like the idea of going to different sites. And I don't want to mostly talk to others who were sexually abused. I dont' like being in a group like that. It can get depressing and sometimes the support isnt' that hot.

I know you'll do what you have said you'll do. I'm hoping you'll leave the site as it is.

dhawkins, I must agree with you. I like it the way it is, and I believe that the support and advice I have received is relevent to PTSD not the fact I was abused.

Second try câlice!
Dear Nicolette, Anthony and all,
1. Thanks Anthony for creating a combat/spouse forum. I know all from my spouse without being able to share, educate, learn (or onload the heavy stuff). How do you deal with this c.r.a.p. anyway ?
2. Sex abuse site= Brillant !!!
3. As an FYI: This site is the only one in the world that speak to PTSD people and carers. NO OTHER GOV. has invested in such a support system... which is why all from Irak, Afgan will become members.
4. Thanks. I feel safe here.
