Gallery Is Close To Return

The developer of an ideal gallery solution has finally released the latest version, of which contains user albums. For members who are long-timers here, you would remember we had user galleries many years ago, though had to ditch them when changing to Xenforo software. Well... they're nearly back.

Members will have access to upload images and link video within a public gallery, and Premium Members will get user albums where you can control who views your content, comments, upload your own actual video (i.e. video diary) and much more. In other words, all members get the basics only, premium members get all the fancy features.

The software is in the final stages of fault correction now, and should be installed here within the next week or two.

Hello @anthony , can you explain a little more about it? Or will it become clear and simple when it's up and running? Will it affect certain threads, for example the Get Your Art On thread, where people already post their art work? Would people use the gallery instead?

There will be no rule about members having to post into the gallery, however; it will highlight all recent postings to members on the forum home, thus if you want your latest pic seen by the most people and commented upon, then it may have advantages. It will definitely have advantages for premium members, who can have their own private galleries who they may share photos of themselves, friends, family, outings and so forth, with who they want and not the entire world (private, people you follow, all members, or public).

It contains active tagging... so you can click and draw around a face, then assign the username. If that member has permission to view, they will get an alert. If not... nothing. Premium members will be able to watermark their images and much more. Tag, crop, rotate, flip and lots of good features to encourage using it instead of posting into a thread and becoming lost within content, rarely to be seen again. In albums, images can be scanned uniquely and will be seen more often.

This sounds like fun to me. I know that many will have reservations about posting pics but I missed this feature when it had to be changed.

I like the idea we can post any kinds of pictures. It doesn't necessarily have to be photographs of yourself. There's a lot of talented people taking really amazing photographs of nature. Maybe some will feel able to post other kinds of pictures ISH, and those who don't feel comfortable won't post things. And the brave ones who post pictures of themselves can do so too. The premium feature of having private albums is a fantastic idea. I will stop gushing away about this for now, but I'm excited, even if it's just to see what other people are sharing in the public gallery.

Media is close to return... it is installed here, albeit hidden from members, whilst in testing and having some design aspects modified to suit the site theme... the video upload isn't present yet due to the complications in rendering the different video sources available, though should be installed at a later date once working correctly. So far... so good though with the rest of it.

Premium members will have a good time with all the features and controls from privacy to adjusting and tagging images and people within images.
