Hey Sharpy, welcome to the forum. I agree that she should not try and wake you directly, but more indirectly. Have an umbrella or something to poke you with, that way she isn't in harms way of you upon waking and being startled. Saying that, you need to also curb your response on waking, to quickly apologise if you do lash out on being startled. You will actually get used to doing it if you force it to memory as your first thing to do, even having her tell you upon waking to help you learn. Repetitive learning... it does work.

The core of the problem is different... though you can take steps such as locking the bedroom door on going to sleep so you can't open it easily, or such things, to curb sleep walking into a dangerous situation.
