Got Lost In My Own Neighborhood This Morning..again!!

(((Rain))),

It is scary when things like this happen, and I always found the more stressed I got, the more lost I got. But you are definitely not alone in this, as there are so many of us that experience it. Most people have a car alarm to alert them when their vehicle is being tampered with; but I use my car alarm to find my own vehicle. No if I could only teach it to jump up and down and wave it's tires in the air.

Your Directionally Challenged Friend....

It's threads like this that convinces me that PTSD is a real set of things, and I do have it. My town's freeway has two exits that for some reason look too similar to me, and I always get nervous about them, as I can't seem to differentiate them. When I'm relaxed, I can usually do okay, but usually I can't, and I take the wrong one and then panic and try to find my way back. Last time, I was able to find a route back really fast, so I tried to feel proud of that recovery. But I get angry that this keeps happening. Yes, it makes me feel stupid. This is like the tunnel vision and it seems that my perceptions block out obvious things as part and parcel of PTSD.

Thank you for sharing ((((Srain))))

This is such a weirdly odd thing when it happens while walking around around here and when the lights and clouds get to looking a certain way my mind tilts or something. I know I shouldn't feel too bad as people get mixed up around here all the time but I've walked it for years and know I don't have any sense of direction to begin with.

Zipperhead, I do have GPS and it wasn't until I had been going around and around did I finally figure out I was lost. I just started reading the house numbers and that got me home. I wasn't thinking enough to use the GPS since I forgot it was there.

Okradlak, this is my Big Girl...umm never mind my husband's "organized" desk in the background

As far as getting lost with my car, I've done it.

Now that would be helpful!!

These are extremely helpful except when I'm SURE I know which car is mine and I click the thing without looking at the lights and just try to open the door and it's not my car! Why do people with the same kinds of cars park next to yours? Well, mine needs washing so you would think I could tell theirs is cleaner but I'm usually in such a panic to get back inside of mine I don't notice unless Big Girl is with me and her big ol' head and bat-wing ears aren't waiting for me. But how embarrassing!!
