New Here
Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum, and interested to understand more about Complex Post Traumatic stress disorder, as my psychologist suggests i may have.

I am healing over many years of chronic stress, and trying to feel more connected to life.

I am in study mode at the moment as well, so being online a lot means I can take a break to say hello.

thanks

KC

Welcome KC, cronic stress (hate it)... absolutely know what you mean about trying to feel more connected to life.

Yes, I think I am actually just use to feeling that way. I am a teacher, and have just extrapolated myself from a relationship i couldn't escape from, and am slowly trying to work it all out. Feel very strange and kind of out of body experience. I am actually relieved that i did go to see a psychologist, and work it all out. Having a child with adhd, after abusive marriage, then a string of similar type relationships, including my last one, (7 years). Am sooo tired, and just sooo sooo over it.

I can say.... that I relate to abusive marriage/relationships. Between that and my abusive childhood... I decided that "my body wasn't a safe place to be". That, for me was the disconnectedness. "I" was hovering right outside of my eyelids... a couple inches away. Do you have a cranial sacral practitioner where you are? I did about a dozen sessions with one ... who really helped me get back in and feel comfortable again. It was an interesting experinece... first I had very little body sensation at all when lying on a table... then she taught me how to drop back in... but she also taught me that when I talk about my traumas I was jumping back out (triggered by the physical and emotional memories). With that and learning grounding and stress reduction techniques... I began reconnecting with my body again and now I'm pretty much okay... even if i get a trigger, I can do a quick self assessment and put myself back in.

Welcome KC,

I hate that out of body stuff. I haven't learned how to deal with it yet but I think my new T has plans. Hope you settle in here quickly.

Welcome to the forum. I can also relate to some of what you have been through.

In case you haven't noticed you'll find a lot of understanding and acceptance here.

Thank you all for responding! I haven't heard of cranial sacral work, it sounds spooky, but I relate to you all very much. I am kind of new to all this diagnosis, and it's kind of weird hearing other people with the same difficulties. I will keep it all in mind. Hopefully you are all fairing well today. Thanks again. I'm in Australia. Cheers.

Welcome to the forum KC. Mine was caused by witnessing an awful crime. I too had some cranial sacral therapy which greatly helped. I'm for alternative methodes ... so long as the practicionner has adequate formation.
