This therapy for has come to my attention, again. Has anyone found it helpful?

The benefits, I've read, are that it provides a safe place to connect to feelings, and then it encourages expressing those feelings, through movement. In the process, safety in your body is enhanced, and useful insights occur, that both allow you to increase self-awareness and allow you to develop choice.

I tried it years ago, for one session, when I was afraid to move, and before I knew I had PTSD. At the time, it was very uncomfortable and triggering. Maybe it could be helpful, now.
I'd appeciate knowing if anyone has had a positive experience.

I have never even heard of it. Do you have a link to a good description? If not I can google it!

Hi. I think you may be talking about dance therapy too. The Naropa Institute in Colorado teaches movement therapy.

I was with a movement therapist for about a year. My helper/therapist was wonderful. I think I began to learn that it was safe/ not painful to be in my own body. I learned my true size. For example: While sitting on the floor, I might be connected with some part of me with that point of view who was hurt at four.

Movement therapy freed up a lot of me that was frozen in fear. I learned that I was entitled to take up space in a room and entitled to the air that I breathed.

@ Mercy, Thanks for sharing your experience. Maybe I'll investigate it again. Like with verbal therapists, I imagine it is important to find a good match.
