I saw one thread on it but could only read the first post. Have looked into what it is but have been afraid to watch any YouTube videos of it. I've heard it's great but someone else said it's a mind trip. Would like to hear from people who have tried it.

ASMR is very helpful if you're experiencing anxiety. It's not a cure-all, and it's in no way a substitute for medicine or therapy, but it's very calming. It's also a godsend if you're suffering from insomnia.

It's not a mind trip at all. If you have the response, you'll feel tingles in your back and head. It's very nice. It's kind of like getting your hair played with.

I would definitely recommend that you try it. My two favorite channels for ASMR are Heather Feather's and Massage ASMR's. They really know what they're doing and have calm, relaxing voices and excellent videos.

I like and experience ASMR! So happy to hear someone mention it. Could be a "mind trip" for some, depends on how they experience it. Very relaxing and helpful to falling asleep for me.

I used to listen to certain audiobook narrators before ASMR videos became so popular on YouTube. My favorite asmr video makers are Whispers Red, Tony Bomboni, and The Water Whisperer.

There are lots of online article about it - some better than others. Washington Post has a good article about it. There is a wikipedia page about ASMR of course but the best website I've found for learning about asmr is "ASMR University".

joeylittle, yep that is it! thanks for posting that link - i guess I was too lazy : )

Anyone else have any ASMR video makers they would recommend? Anna mentioned heather feather and massageASMR - both great. massageASMR is one of the few males that is popular. I get ASMR tingles from either gender, wonder if this is true for others?

Thank you JoeyLittle for the article. I understand it now and will look for it tonight before bed. :)

And thanks to all of you for the recommendations.

I wanted to offer a big thank you to all of you for your recommendations. I listened to Heather Feather last night and got four solid hours of sleep, haven't done that in years. Feeling like a million bucks.

I like Duff the Psych ASMR and Monotonic ASMR. There's also an ASMR vid titled Departure, can't remember the channel name. i find it can be really helpful, but sometimes there's a weird sort of vibe some posters give off and it can take some work to find the ones that relax me instead of creeping me out (like the one guy who wears masks and does a lot of bizarre character role play)

I listen to audiobooks before bed. I started doing that before I knew ASMR was a thing lol. There are certain narrators that I always come back to like Jim Dale, Anton Lesner and Derek Jacobi. I find their accents relaxing.

I didn't know audio books were a form of asmr, guess I had been listening to it for a while but didn't realize it. Lol

Thank you for the recommendations. Much appreciated :)
