They pick it up and turn the stalk end DOWN. Squeeze the the small button on the end and hey presto, the skin splits and easy peeled banana ready to eat.

... OK Amethist, it works really well. the skeptical me was pretty surprised with the result ... my ancestors were definately brighter than me.

I use to use a knife to cut the end off in order to peel the skin, so I would also have a knife to wash in the end ...

I knew someone from Nigeria who told me we all peeled our bananas wrong and he told me they all peeled theirs the same way as you said Amethist. I never tried it but I will now!
