Health Benefits Application

I was wondering if someone else has done this. I applied to the VA for my Application for Health Benefits and on the second try was sent the right one after I was sent the old one, called and asked what should I do, faxed it in and finally was sent the up to date one. I was at Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay Cuba Detainee Operations. I was awarded the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal under Operation Enduring Freedom. There is a question on the application that asks was I in a combat theatre of operations. I know I wasn't in physical combat but under the GWOTEM it says directly engaged in Enduring Freedom. Should I put down yes or no, it is for the 5 years post discharge treatment you get from the VA for whatever you received there. I have PTSD from there so that what I would want it for. I have been diagnosed from 5 different doctors. thank-you.

The American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans organization have trained personnel to help you get through the VA claims maze for free. I had a DAV assistant do my claim as I just get totally mind f*cked when I try to do paperwork. He was pretty good. There are several other organizations, but I don't know about their reputations.

I strongly suggest you get help filling out your claim from one of the two above organizations. The VA claim process is designed for you to fail in getting your claim approved.

thanks for the link though I just read an article that says all OEF/OIF veterans are qualified to receive this care. Maybe I am overthinking this.
