My best day last week saw over 20,000 steps and 8+ miles. Inadvertently. I was babysitting the grand kids for the week, they were both in school, so I elected to take the dog, a golden retriever, for a jaunt to the dog park via the forest path. We kind of messed up - the Bugs Bunny line comes to mind - I knew I should have turned left at Albuquerque!" So the uh 5k morphed into whatever 8 miles is in km.
The rest of my days saw mostly over 10,000 steps running after grand kids. All two of them. Between the 2 of them and the dog, it is like herding cats.
For upper body conditioning, if I didn't have the 18 month old slung across a hip, then I was physically removing a thrashing, kicking, screaming three year old from whatever public venue we were attending, or wrestling shoes and socks on or off.
My Fitbit monitors sleep. I was in bed usually five minutes after the kids were down, and up 2 hours before we left for school in the morning. No insomnia for the whole 10 days. And I slept 12 hours my first night home, with a couple of short wake ups punctuating the night.
