Health Monitoring - Jawbone Or Equivalent... Do You?

Got my replacement today... which was a whole bunch of misinformation and lack of information from Jawbone / Dick Smith Electronics, where I bought it. DSE told me they had to send it away for warranty repair, Jawbone said they would just send me one. After no further communication from Jawbone in days, I asked what is happening, has it been sent... to which I got a reply to return it to place of purchase and they will swap it for me, is apparently how their warranty works here in Australia. Not what DSE told me when I rung them first.

So I took it back to them today, 2 months old... and got a replacement. Easy as... and the new ones warranty starts from today... so again, if it breaks in the next 12 months I just walk back into the store and get a replacement. Makes it easier for next time, if there is a next time. Fingers crossed there isn't and it works ongoing this time round. The battery seriously was shite in the last one... not sure if moisture got into it or not from sweating... but one would think it shouldn't be that easy.

So back to step monitoring... tomorrow most likely. Already done around 10k today, and I don't feel like doing another 15k just to meet my mark. Then again... I do do stupid things some days, not like the extra exercise is going to hurt me or anything.[DOUBLEPOST=1405558131,1405557899][/DOUBLEPOST]If you have a Jawbone UP / UP24 you can search me out by name to join as a team, all then able to see what each other are doing and motivate one another along.[DOUBLEPOST=1405558198][/DOUBLEPOST]Got my new one charging at the moment...

I do not know how I can motivate you...lol...but I do have the Up24. I will change my privacy settings and get back to you. Thank you for the kind offer. It is a honor.

Well... besides missing my 5km walk before getting my replacement, I went and got motivated and am at 15k already... about to go to the shops which will put me over 17.5 when I get home. If I had that 5km walk this morning, that would have been around 22k steps for the day.

Go team fitness....

Took the day off from exercise yesterday, as I had already done a 30+ day straight of 15k or more steps. Enough was enough... had a day off and then went great guns for my personal best today.

Whilst my legs feel as though they want to fall off, and I felt like collapsing at one point due to having not eaten enough before exercising and basically running out of energy... I did it, 30,000+ steps today. My record... and well... I won't be trying to best it any time soon, put it that way.

Anthony...I am quite humbled. I will offer mine as a 60+ year old that went from fear of walking to doing an average of Jawbone's other people (of what figure base I do not yet understand). You have given me courage, as well as inspiration at a time I had become resigned to the disease. This UP24 device is a consummated and much endearing nag!:clown: Thank you for the endorsement.

I am now exercising at the gym and averaging avg (?) against others for 5,600 steps daily up from my imposed lazyboy chair death. This is only a little over 2.6 miles. I can at this time barely muster 30 minutes on elliptical at settings on 1 for incline and 1 for something else (?) memory :banghead: + my walking of the dogs.:inpain:

I intend to maintain this regime for another three weeks while adding slowly modified sit ups and push ups...then yoga core. As well I have been changing my nutritional intake and watching this on the calorie count insofar as health. However, I did delight in a rootbeer float (icecream) with chocolate syrup ...for celebration of hitting 5.6 two times in a row!:notworthy: We call this drink a Black Cow in my area.

How did you arrive at your goal set in comparison for your area?

Your active time is what I am aiming for: it is a goal set with a solid purpose of living instead of my computer geeking sitting. Keep on sharing please, I could not figure out which Anthony you were, so find me if you want. If not sharing here is good too!

ps...I informed my spouse that he needs to get one too...lol. I told him I will get him one for Christmas if he does not sooner.

Tribute to how PTSD.com made a difference to this member...

Yesterday July 22:
moved 6,376 Steps or 2.85 miles

On July 21- I moved 6,408 Steps or 2.9 miles. Then on July 20- I moved 5,667 Steps or 2.5 miles; on July 19: moved 5,782 or 2.6 miles. The bottom line as of July 11th there were no miles, no goal. Anyone else? Aw, come on!;)

Thank you Anthony again.

I have been thinking and reading up on these fitness bands. My problem is I am not allowed to wear anything below the elbow during my working day and I work full time. I have read that these bands designed for the wrist are inaccurate on the ankle.

Does anybody know of anything -that works- that can be used other than on the wrist to monitor fitness and inspire me to get off my backside more often.

Hip Hip Hurray for LucyCat!

There are various pedometers for walking that have apps or just ones that can be placed in one's pocket or clipped. Also some pedometers appear to come with applications for the phone or computer (from what I briefly just viewed).

Researching the best one for you would be a strong move because then you could add your hat to the ring! Steps are steps after all.;)

Keep me informed as I am excited and need inspiration!
