Good morning,
I am new to this site and am looking forward to seeing how I can benefit from a forum such as this.
I am diagnosed with- Complex PTSD, Neurocognitive Disorder, TBI Residuals, Chronic Lower Back Pain, Severe Anger and Depression.
I currently take Zoloft (200 mg daily) and Buspar (20mg Daily). Zoloft sucks, I hate the way it makes me feel, and the side effects are difficult to deal with. I previously had taken Effexor, which at first I liked, and then after some time the effect started to not work. I also have taken Wellbutrin which I also liked (especially due to the lack of side effects) but I had an allergic reaction which gave me hives. When I was still in the service I was prescribed Mirtazipine and Gabapentin. Those medications aided in significant weight increase (something the military frowns upon for obvious reasons), and I felt like I was a zombie, void of all feeling and emotion. Buspar has helped with the day to day anxiety and panic attacks. I still have problems with agoraphobia, impulsivity with anger, and a still pretty solid grip of depression.
I see a social worker provided by the VA for therapy sessions, which helps. Talking about it only scratches the surface though. Hopefully I can find the right cocktail of medications to help me get through this life. The VA has mountains of red tape and has to go through the process of the prescribing the typical medications for my disorders. Any recommendations would be helpful. I just hate the whole process of waiting for weeks before a medication takes effect, and the titration process, only to find out that the medication doesn't help me in the way it should, then I need to start all over again. I feel like I am a difficult patient. Maybe it is that the psychiatrist makes me feel like I am the problem and not the medication... I don't know.
