New Here
Hi!! Okay . My name is Silas, and I'm 19. I'm a university student !!! I'm also Deaf and Autistic. :D my pronouns are they/them/theirs/themselves. I'm agender.

My PTSD is due to a childhood molestation (I only remember one) and repeated rape by my first boyfriend, then several emotionally abusive relationships and two other assaults. Possibly also some early abusive behavior when I first came out as transgender to my parents.

I've been in therapy for a few years but never got to focus on my abuse.

Another side effect of the abuse is that I am part of a multiple system. Not exactly DID, as I've never told my therapists I have an alter. (It won't be posting here, we are working through this using my point of view and doubt it would need to post here.) (And yes, it prefers it/its pronouns)

Other disorders I have: borderline personality disorder, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, mood disorder not otherwise specified, and I have struggled with eating disorder not otherwise specified, self harm, and suicide ideation.

I'm hoping to double major in studio art and early childhood education, focusing on deaf art and Deaf and/or Autistic kids. :D

Nice to meet all of you!!!!

Welcome! what a great many challenges you have had in life. I am sure that you will find this forum to be great for information and support.

HI Silas nice to meet you. Odd question but I do like the opportunity to learn from new people, do you accept the pronoun 'Ze' instead of he/she or is there another one you prefer.

I think you'll find a lot of support and advice here. I know the I personally like that I can come on here every few nights and discuss the problems I am facing and get support and advice from people who have been through the same thing.

I took childhood studies (as part of a PSychology degree, uni is a little different in england we only choose from modules relating to one main subject) and I have worked with children with disabilities so if you ever want to chat about that just send me a message.

@silas Welcome to forums! and hugs if they accept!

I find deaf people very interesting, and I used to work with autistic kids back when I volunteered on a horse ranch.

They sure had quite a lot of challenges in your life, I am quite emphatic so it saddens me that they had to go through all that.

Welcome to forums and hugs, also apologize for me poor use of pronouns

Ahhh thank you all for the welcomes!!!! :D :hug::hug:

I don't connect very well to "ze", but I accept the following sets:
  • they/them/theirs/themselves
  • fey/feys/feyself
  • ae/aer/aers/aerself
  • thae/thaer/thaers/thaerself
  • ey/em/eirs/eirself
  • it/its/itself
I'm more than happy to teach anyone how to use them!! and no worries if you mess them up or use them incorrectly -- as long as you're trying!!

I'd love to talk about that!! o: It's kind of one of my special interests, heh. :D

d/Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing people face some unique challenges when pursuing psychiatric treatment. Autistic folks, too!! No one takes us seriously, or they think we're childish and therefore have no useful input on any conversation.

Welcome, @silas. I'm glad you (all of you) have found us. One of my closest friends is Deaf, and I know only a little about how hard it was for him to figure out exactly how to do therapy, and that was in a pretty supportive community. It's great that there's a therapist you've found to work with, and it sounds like it's going OK. MyPTSD is a big and really informative place, lots of useful stuff to read and lots of interesting people to be in a community with. Glad you're here!

Hi Silas, nice to meet ya. Sorry for the circumstances that brought you here, though glad to have you aboard.
