CantSleep

New Here
My name is Amie. I am 34 years old and have PTSD, and as usual I can not sleep. I hate this, I went to Iraq in 2003 and have suffered alone long enough, so tonight I decided to get on a forum and see if I am truly the only one not sleeping tonight.

Hi Amie,

Welcome to the Forum. I am sorry to hear about your insomnia, but you will find you are not alone. Inability to sleep and sleep related problems are a common theme here.

There are some good articles on sleep available here and threads with really good suggestions.

Take care.

ITL

Hi Amie,

ITL is speaking for all us wakeful members. Gosh they sell a lot of bizarre things on those home shopping networks at 2 am, don't they? Loose jewels was the last one I got fuzzily hooked on, and luckily did not get the credit card out. It's either that or Gomer Pyle reruns so.. . All this to say you're not the only one.

I hope it's helpful for you to be here. You've probably have seen that there are other vets here also, and no doubt many who share the same sleepless nights.

Take care,

Anni

Hi CantSleep,

I spent a few nights on this forum too for company while I wasn't sleeping ;-) I got my Seroquels back and thankfully resting peacefully now-- I'm so happy my doctor put me on these, no more nightmares, no more difficult anxiety-- it works for me! :)

Welcome to the group and I'm sure you are not alone by any means, wandering among the sleeping hours.

Nice to meet you,
~Nishkaa

Completely relate / welcome to the forum. Funny two weeks ago I was sent for a sleep study / didn't go to good as you can imagine. All the best with your recovery, Dan.

Sleep certainly impacts a number of us. I am so thankful for forums like this during these awake times. I am reading Wide Awake by Patricia Morrisroe which chronicles her search for sleep. It is funny and informative. If you are going to be awake, be entertained.

You are definitely not alone! Here I am at 4 am, looking for answers to PTSD and finding there are no easy solutions.
