Hey y'all,
My name is Brian and I am a combat vet from Afghanistan. I served in eastern and north eastern Afghanistan. I was a 31B (MP) who was attached to 3rd ID. My primary missions were dismounted patrols, convoy security, cordon/search, and support for OGAs in my AO.
I was diagnosed with PTSD and my wife of 7 years left me due to it. I've gone through counseling but I routinely self medicate. I am drunk as I write this post. I try to cut back but I become triggered too easily.
I joined to connect with fellow combat vets who aren't the "vets " who served in peacetime in the 80s who always crowd the VA and complain of PTSD. I watched a good friend die. Shot through the right eye by an AK round. Bled out right in front of me.
Anyways I thought I would say hello and that I'm new here. Hope to connect with some of you and help progress me through this time in my life.
Brian
