I was diagnosed with PTSD in 2007 after my second combat deployment to Iraq.
The first one was not as stressful due to the area I was in but the second one was worse due to the area and missions I was involved with. Along with PTSD I have been diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder, Clinical Depression and Insomnia.
It has been a roller coaster for me with many high points and low points to where at one time I was even suicidal. I have looked for help form counseling and medications which never seemed to help. I have looked inside myself and found ways of dealing with it but at times and usually the same time every year I fall back into the deep depression and the PTSD of deployment worsens.
Now that I am out of the military new issues have started that include the feeling of leaving my fellow service members behind and a sense of no longer belonging. I have joined groups and participate in them like the VFW and the Patriot Guard but sometimes it is not enough.
I am here hoping to find people with similar situations of mine that I can talk with and find ways that they have been able to move on with what they have been through because it has gotten to the point now where it is again effecting my overall happiness.
