You're awesome, thanks for coming out of the woodwork. Yeah, the umbrella is my new safety object, people look at me kind of funny...until it rains. Regards, Dan.

Welcome Dan and congratulations on your "year".

You have helped me much already through your posts and you've only just "arrived"! -Thank you :)

Yes, I think that many of the same principles of managing the ptsd apply, one day at a time and may each of those days be a little more peaceful and joyful than the last.

I too completed a stint at Homewood 2006. Working daily at thriving vs. surviving. Delighted to have found this site. Seems positive and proactive. Struggle to find a place where I "fit". Not military but experienced an occupational injury related to being a responder. Preparing for an awesome program in Squamish BC, Paradise Valley Wellness Clinic. Cheers.

Welcome fellow Canuck, thank you for sharing a piece of your journey here with us.
I too know someone who completed some time at Homewood as well as a result of an Occupational Stress Injury. My husband as well very nearly spent some time there but they instead found him some help at the OSI clinic in our city. I'm glad there's such good care being taken of our wounded to ensure they get the best chance at hopefully re-entering a life in society that they can feel supports their families and their own mental health.

Hello Dan

Another Dan here, and I must say that I'm proud to share names with a guy like you. It sounds like you're doing a great job getting better one step at a time.
Good thing that you posted on the forum even though you were a little nervous. It just shows once again that you have the will to do something even if it isn't easy - and I also get the sense that you're reaching out to other people.
Ok, that ended up sounding rather stupid, but I hope you get the idea. Cheers and thumbs up from over here! :-)
