Kia ora and greetings,

Like many of you I get the label PTSD - severe and then several sub titles just to make life interesting :) I live in New Zealand in the winterless North. We have just experienced a large earthquake which will add trauma to many lives. I have recently read "The responsible treatment of post traumatic stress disorder" by James Chu which helped put words to many aspects and more recently "Bodily Harm" by Wendy Lader and Karen Conterio has enabled much unconscious material to move into my awareness.
A supportive GP has made the difference for me - who views herself as a team member with me - allows for healing to begin. I have already appreciated browsing in some of the forums and reading material on this site.
All the best to fellow travellers! :hello:

Thank you catjudo,

I returned to my post to edit the Thread Title and found you had done it. Will remember in future. It is a little daunting getting off on the wrong foot, however I am hopeful to get it right in the future. Cheers!

Hi birdofparadise

Welcome to the forum.

We heard about the earthquake here in the UK, though not much information filters through sometimes, so I hope it is a one off for all concerned.

Good to hear your GP works with you on this, it helps when you get that kind of support. Hopefully you be able to move further forward on your healing journey with the added help and advice you will find here.

You have 20 minutes to edit your own posts, so no need to worry too much when you spot something just after you click "Post reply".

Take care and good luck.

Hi, welcome to the forum, I'm new and from Canada (the winter part of the north). Funny, a good GP is an important thing regardless of your hemisphere. The multinational connect and support here is great. Kia kaha / all the best, Dan.
