Hello I am new. I got PTSD through work. I was a nurse and I am now medically retired. I am fighting with an insurance company at the present time to get my income back. I have been through a lot in my life but I never thought work would finish me off. I am slowly crawling my way back to the basics and through the grief of loss. I get so tired and my memory is rubbish. My cognitive abilities are rubbish as well.................well I used to be an intelligent well written and languaged person.

However I have a very supportive family and I recently got a dog. the dog makes me go for a walk every day and whilst its hard to get started its great when its done. If anyone from down under has work related PTSD especially if you are a nurse it would be great to hear from you.

Hello Yamada
I was a nurse, couldnt handle it, then went into Hospital Admin as a Ward Clerk in Mental Health in an acute psych unit and then a PTSD unit. It finished me off too, I havent worked for two years. I hate the healthcare system and management. I live in Brisbane.
I also had a child with CF and he died so that built up to PTSD but I do believe working in a hospital was the straw that broke my brain. Welcome to the forum. I am 56. I have only been on this forum a month and I have improved tremendously

I worked in the acute end of Mental Health and it did me in. Management were bullys , but I only figured that out in retrospect and after speaking to others who had left. I was medically retired and now I am at home. My specialist says PTSD can happen as a last straw response to something. I think I had well and truley used up all my straws and a lot of my colleagues all had maladaptive ways of coping with the stress.

I am so sorry about your child.

I write a daily blog. It helps

I have just seen the Video on the Grammar, Puctuation rules and I accept. I had a very good language brain and to retrain it again, these rules are putting to excercise. Thank you for your welcome.

I am currently going through a regular episode where I physically have no energy and am bed ridden. I get dizzy spells. Its like all the energy has been sucked out of me. Even my head feel thick and my thoughts slowed. Every part of my body aches and feels heavy. Yesterday I got out of bed changed the sheets and got back in. It ususally lasts a week. I have had stress relating to my Workers Compensation Case and going over all the issues that lead to PTSD. It seems as if I hold it together then go down like a ton of bricks. However this time I felt it coming. Has anyone experienced this?
