Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with PTSD a few years ago (don't know if I'm allowed to say why, here). I am currently in a pale shade of Hell and need support. I don't receive support from anywhere currently, and wondered if there was a forum on MyPTSD where I could vent without risking harming or upsetting others.

Just wanted to introduce myself briefly. I hope to chat with you all soon.

Welcome! You can vent and share whatever whenever you want and need.
We have no trigger warnings here.
We ach are responsible for choosing to read or not.
Glad you found us.
Go for it!

Thank you! In short, I have PTSD because I found the body of a suicide victim. I'm not ready, and yet desperately ready, to go into further detail. I'm sure you understand.

Take your time. This is a huge forum with many people. A lot to read, learn about resources.
What some of us do to relax, ext.
What you experienced is very hard . I can not begin to imagine what you have endured.
So take your time. Get comfortable here. We atrnt going anywhere.
Very sorry for the reason you are here.

I'm sorry you had to undergo a horrible shock and I pray you will find some answers by talking about it. There are people who've had a similar experience.

I'm glad you took the chance to be vulnerable. People here are very supportive and there are many common symptoms among sufferers. You can ask questions, ask for support, and help others if you are able.

Thank you Ladee and Knak. I'm really struggling to find the words to describe what I experienced. What I can say is that I'm suffering from nightmares, flashbacks and a mixture of the two - hypnogogic hallucinations. Ii spoke to my psychiatrist on the phone today but he didn't get the urgency with which

Sorry, accidentally hit send there.

He didn't get the urgency with which I had contacted him. He's posting a prescription to me to increase one of my meds (Prazosin) but I won't get that for a couple of days. In any case, I told him I felt I was right on the very verge of a crisis and he said hopefully the increase in Prazosin will work and that we'll discuss it further when I see him in just under three weeks. Problem is, I can't wait three weeks. I need help NOW and not in 19 days.

Well that's something you won't have to worry about in here, as we all understand, that's why we are all in here, to help and understand each other.

It doesn't matter what you post, or how you write it down, we all know what you mean! This site has been a God send for me, as I've come a long way since joining, and that's without help or therapy from any other source, good luck.

I used to work in an emergency room and people came in with emotional trauma. Someone would do a psych evaluation and help them be more rational or else admit them. I imagine if you tell the ER doctor you need something to calm your panic, they would give something in there or a prescription to fill when you leave. You'd have to have someone drive you home if they give you something there.

If you have a primary physician they may give you something to hold you over. My doctor gave me klonopin when I had a panic attack and happened to see her. She gave me a psych referral and he continued the meds and then he left so my primary physician continued my prescription. I take baclofen for migraines which is a muscle relaxant that helps with panic so together they made me relax for the first time in my life. It took 30 years after a complete mental breakdown before meds ever helped me.

I also find that mucinex is a relaxant but probably shouldn't say that.

EMDR therapy is the only therapy that helped me progress in my thinking to heal some of my pain and self persecution and wrong thinking. It is used more often for single incidents like you identified, and can cure a problem in 3 sessions for some people.

I've had abuse and neglect all my life and live with a psychopathic narcissist, so my problems keep coming. I've been going for years and it still helps me learn reality in a time of crisis like now.

Instead of not being able to get in touch with the emotional pain which is too intense, you can work on it using bilateral stimulation, which makes the brain processes go back and forth between the left and right side so you aren't paralyzed by the pain that resides on one side and can keep working with the therapist until you get through it and all the things that get attached to it.

Once you fully conclude healing all the irrational thoughts attached to one emotional injury it will stop controlling you, and the healing effect continues to work on its own without thinking about it. Healing the original problem's thought processing has to be completed correctly to continue to work so the therapist has to be good and you need to be able to trust them.

I'm sorry you are suffering and I have been there and know it feels it won't go away so just know we care about you and pray you get through the worst parts quickly but you have a lot of pain to go through. When you come out the other end you will be smarter.

I can also identify with having most doctors say "time for you to go" instead of having compassion to get you through it.
