New Here
Hi my name is stephanie, I am an SA survivor. I am a university student, hoping to major in policy studies.

I've had ptsd for a few years now, as a result of sexual assaults when I was sixteen. Lately I have been having horrendous flash backs from my early childhood, that I have never had before. It's been terrifying and very challenging. So I could use all the support I can get.

I am looking forward to meeting people :)

Hi Stephanie

Welcome to the forum.

Lots of support here, as well as information to help you keep moving forward. You could also check out the SSA forum too. The link to that is at the bottom of this post.

Take care.

Welcome to the forum, Stephanie!

I, too, am a SA survivor. I'm glad you found the forum. The people here, and on the sister-site SSA Forum, are amazing, understanding, wonderfully supportive and compassionate.

I'm so sorry you're struggling with flashbacks.
I know, intimately, the horror, intense distress, fear, etc., that flashbacks can cause.
My heart goes out to you!

It's wonderful to be able to tell you that, with a good trauma therapist, you can learn how to manage flashbacks, and no longer be afraid of them.
As difficult as they are, flashbacks can become allies in providing information for further healing, within the safety of good trauma therapy.

I'm glad you're here, Stephanie!
Warmly,
Deer

Hello, my name is Yvonne and I am a survivor of prolonged sex abuse and have had ptsd for many years. I am currently having therapy, and hope that I will find some peace and comfort from both the people and info on this site. I have been moved by some of the threads I have read and also had a good laugh at the expense of PTSD yesterday, which was certainly a first. I am looking forward to talking to others here, as I feel, its a place I can truly be understood, as feeling completely different from everyone else is a huge issue for me.
best wishes
Yvonne

Hi Stephanie.

Welcome to the forum.
Am new here myself. I spent nearly six years unable to say anything about what happened to me. Finally i managed to see a Doctor and am starting therapy on Monday. Also am booked in for CBT. I have found this site very useful and the people here friendly.

Wishing you all the best.
Moose.
