Hi,

My name is Nate. I'm 36 and have a wife and two awesome kids. I was sexually abused by my babysitters son starting at age four. I didn't remember until I was 17. My father was abusive. I was Punk Rock and did alot of drugs. I was assaulted in a vicious robbery at Dominos pizza in 1996 and my co-worker almost died. I went through 3-4 years of counseling and it helped. Over the past couple of years, I have had to work for a psychopath (literally) and am constantly sabatoged. Being taken advantage of is definately my number one trigger for PTSD. It's hard for me to express myself to my wife without sounding crazy. We have been together since high school. I understand the kids are #1 but, I am not crazy. Overall, my family life is good but, it is a bad job market and I am at my ends with my company. I went to a psyhcologist about a year ago but, it didn't go so well. Hopefully, we can help each other. I know it's alot but, it is what it is.

Nate

Hi Nate,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. There is a lot of helpful information for dealing with the PTSD symptoms and especially the emotional swings. Stress makes symptoms flair up and I would recommend you read the article on the stress cup as it is one of the best explanations of how PTSD and stress impact our daily lives.

But the best part of this forum is the support and sharing of ideas and information as we all work on healing. There is also a sister forum [DLMURL]http://sexabuse.ptsdforum.org/[/DLMURL] that you may find helpful.

Take care.
Debbie

Hi Nate, welcome to the forum.

Take your time looking around and post as and when you are able. It is hard and you have made a great start with your introduction.

I hope you find the friendship and support that I have found here.

Take care
KP

Hi Nate,

Welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of friends here who understand what you are going through. You are NOT crazy and you will find that good communication with your wife will help the coping and recovery process.

I have sexual assault in my history (which I had mostly dealt with at the time) and I too had a crap manager (he had schizophrenia) and played out his paranoia on me. I also experienced the wrath of psychopaths (in the workplace and in the family environment) - which lead to my PTSD. I am glad that you know what you are dealing with, I didn't at the time - too young and naive I guess. I do hope you are looking elsewhere for work, despite the economic climate. Based on my experience, it is best to create as much distance between yourself and a psychopath as possible.

I am a big believer in therapy - my therapist is awesome and has really helped me. It took a little while to find him, but he is invaluable. Keep looking for a therapist that you feel comfortable with. The right therapist goes a long way.

Again, welcome to the forum. We are all here for you. xxoo

Nate welcome!
It takes an immense amount of courage to speak here for the first time as it is an unknown, and you are making yourself vulnerable to a bunch of strangers. It also says volumes of your character and strength to be open as a man about the abuse. All of these ingredients spell out an Overcomer! Welcome.

Welcome to the forum Nate, that was quite an impressive introduction. You managed the hardest step. I'm glad that you have had many members answering you already. This a great and safe place to be able to talk about one's experiences.
