Hello everyone. I am the wife of a soldier, a veteran of OIF and OEF. I al totally lost and looking for some help. Hopefully this forum will help. I want my husband back and my kids want their daddy back. He is currently getting "help" onbase but i am not feeling very confident in the treatment or therapy or what ever you want to call it. right now he is on minipress, zoloft, and zanex. He hides in the garauge and rarely comes in anymore. he might be in the house for 10 minutes of an hour if i am lucky. He freaks out when he goes out anywhere. he gets so irritated at me and the kids for seemingly nothing. he forgets everything and rambles about absolutely nothing. can anyone please tell me what to do, where to get him help, or anything that can help. i'm desperate/.

I would start by reading the 'sticky' threads in different sections. The Supporters section is very helpful.

Stress, social fears, isolation and anger ( for me this is awful) are all big things with PTSD and are common. His therapy might actually be helping, but it can also make symptoms worse for a little while as he works though the things that are bothering him.

I think with PTSD...Support, a good therapist and Time heals the wounds it leaves.

Is it possible for your husband to get help off base?

He keeps telling me that they will not out-source him. i don't understand that tho because if they are really that over booked on base there should be no problem sending him off base. or at least i wouldn't think so anyways. I'm just starting to feel lost myself becuase i don't know what to do to help him at this point. I just want my husband back.

Understanding PTSD would be the first step. And then understanding where he is. I.e Depressed? Angry? Denial?
