Help For My Suicidal Thoughts

I have had suicidal thoughts pretty much as long as I can remember...I have told my therapist about the recent ones and today told him about the ones I have had this week, anyways to me it's like a normal part of life to have them. It to me is almost no big deal since I have had them for so long, and only a few times acted on them. Well now today my therapist, brings up that maybe I need to do inpatient treatment. I believe I have posted about this before, but is there any assistance or anything that people know about for this time of situation.

What I mean I guess can a person get short term disability or anything because of being admitted? Or is there any other type of benefits out there? I know I need to do the therapy, I have known for along time, I am just to afraid to do it...One reason why I can't even consider it, is I have bills to pay if I am in inpatient therapy for well I don't even know how long those things last, I can't be working and making money to pay my bills from a psych ward!

Kris,
Do you have benefits at work? Many times there is disability included with that. If you live in the USA, SSD can take a long time to get. I have heard of others here getting it right off the bat though. Maybe ask your T. He might know more.

Social Security does not have any provisions for partial or short-term disability. One of their most basic requirements is that the "disability has lasted or is expected to last for at least one year or to result in death". As Iam said, some people have short-term disability benefits through their employers but that is something you would have to check on individually.

This is something that concerns me too. It worries me that if I go in I will lose everything that gives me a chance of getting back to where I used to be. Sorry I dont have the answer to your question. I know here in the UK there are lots of benefits for different things- I just dont know if they cover this sort of situation.
