Helpful Article On Complex Developmental Ptsd

I can only speak for myself, but when I came to Pete Walker's book [ "Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving"] and read the section on Emotional Flashbacks, a bell rang - I recognised immediately that my experiences matched pretty much exactly what I was reading on the page. I then struggled hard with self-doubt [as I have and do with almost every aspect of CPTSD] but eventually came to accept my gut feeling - I was experiencing what he calls Emotional Flashbacks, which for me involve powerful and unpleasant dissociation.

So for me, the description was right. I know that one of the hardest things for me is hearing and accepting my gut feelings, and not always going to others for their opinion - although sometimes I have needed this, for example from my therapist in recognising dissociation.

But that's me and it will of course be different for each of us. If, somewhere inside, you have a "yes, that's it!" feeling when you read it, maybe it is?

Best wishes and warm regards to you.

Thanks @tontoe my reactions sound very similar to yours, including the need to seek opinion from others. I've been completely stumped for an answer to the out of the blue, un-triggered anxiety attacks, so this seems to offer one possible explanation.

Best wishes to you too.
