New Here
Hi,
I'm really here to find some insight into PTSD and how to cope with it. I get dissociation on a huge scale, and thanks to looking up on here, I've discovered theres a name for my staring - 1000 yard stare. I find it quite hard to click out of sometimes and I find I can phase in and out of it for a while.

Living with PTSD has and continues to be an every day struggle for me. Whether its my anxiety thats getting in my way - or the staring, flashbacks, dissociation . I guess im just wanting to learn the right way to deal with all this - from people who have the same problems.

So hi ! and thanks for being here

Welcome mcfaab, you will get your money's worth especially in the wiki section of the forum. This is a great place to meet others who are going through the same thing as you.

Welcome to the forum, mcfaab!

You are definitely not alone with your symptoms. You are among friends here. I have them, too. I hope that between the info section and the actual support from fellow sufferers you can learn to live a more relaxed life. Feel free to post any questions that you may have.

Take care!

I only learned what dissociation was two weeks ago, and have just now learnt what the 1000 yard stare is. I just figured my mind was going soft, which is something I'm terrified of, so I tried to sharpen my inner focus and used some meditation techniques. I don't know if I had it very bad or at all and I'm still largely ignorant of the topic, but it seemed to help when I did that. Sometimes.

May the happiness you deserve find you

Hi McFab,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. This is a great site to learn about the disorder and about techniques that help with managing the symptoms. But the best part, is the relief one can find in knowing they are not alone in this battle. The support of members is invaluable as you work on healing.

Take care and looking forward to hearing more from you.
Debbie
