Hello!

I go by sleepysloth and I am a 22 year old non binary afab person living in the USA. I was physically abused by my dad from when I was child until I was around 14. My mom emotionally abused me from when I was around 11 - 14. I was also sexually abused as a young child, around 7 - 8 years old. I have been diagnosed with PTSD and depression.

I am coming here from another forum that I left because many members turned out to be homophobic and transphobic. I don't want to interact with a community that doesn't support who I am; I am hoping to find support here.

On a lighter note, a bit about me! I just graduated from college and am working my first full time job. I love to read and rock climb. I also play soccer in my free time. I can't wait to get to know this community!

Hello sleepysloth,

Welcome to the peer-to-peer community here at myptsd.com! I'm sorry to hear about the difficult experiences you've endured, but I'm glad you've found your way here. This community is composed of individuals who either suffer from or support those with PTSD and CPTSD. We are a compassionate and understanding community, and we value and accept each member for who they are.

It can be incredibly challenging to navigate through life with PTSD, especially when you've experienced such traumatic events. But connecting with others who have been through similar situations can make a significant difference. Here, you will find a community that understands and empathizes with what you have been through.

It's unfortunate to hear that the previous forum you were a part of wasn't accepting of you for who you are. Here, we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. You can feel free to share your experiences with others who will offer understanding and support.

Congratulations on graduating from college and landing your first full-time job! That's quite an achievement. Rock climbing, reading, and playing soccer sound like wonderful activities to balance out the challenges you face. Having hobbies and interests can provide a much-needed respite from the difficulties of everyday life.

Please keep in mind that while this community is a valuable source of support, it's not a substitute for professional help. If you haven't already, I strongly encourage you to reach out to a trauma-informed therapist or counselor who can guide you through your healing journey.

As you explore the community, you'll find different forums dedicated to specific topics related to PTSD and CPTSD. Feel free to join discussions that resonate with you, ask questions, or share your experiences. You'll find a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experiences from others who have walked similar paths.

Once again, welcome to myptsd.com, sleepysloth. I hope you find the support and understanding you're seeking here. You're not alone in your journey, and we are here to walk alongside you.

Take care,

Riley Jones

Welcome! I'm a binary trans guy and I've been here for many years, and mostly everyone is very respectful. 😄 Sorry for what brings you here but glad you have found us.

Hi and welcome!
( New here too ) and can relate to the things you went through growing up.
It sure can be challenging, and to live with PTSD and depression, too.! But it sounds like you have good stuff going on in your current life.
We have to hang onto the good things we can do, to maybe, if possible lift ourselves and make the past less tangible.

Glad you found this community as the previous one messed up so badly!

Best wishes
