Well I guess what I mean that I was 'cured' was that I was having no PTSD symptoms apart from having nightmares. No hyperarousal, no flashbacks, no startle response etc etc. I felt like who I was before the trauma and thought that it was all over.
Then I saw my daughter struggling to get to the fireplace and my husband holding her back and her struggling to get away and bang i'm too scared to go out, jump at loud noises, the family can't touch me without warning me first etc.
Bluecat: I did end up looking up on the internet a therapist who deals specifically with women's issues by the way, so thanks for that.
ikop: I spent 6 months in a trauma focused psych ward and then saw two therapists a week who had different focuses. One was to deal with the trauma, the other was on reducing PTSD symptoms.
I was never told PTSD had no cure and a major trigger could start it up all again, so I guess I'm using incorrect language. I felt cured. Now I don't.
