:hello:

I am in Washington and have been diagnosed with PTSD since I was 11 years old, but have never been treated for it. A lot of the time, I black out and don't remember hours at a time through out my day... sometimes for no reason at all... other times after being triggered.

I was going to edit the above post, but wasn't able to figure out how...

The PTSD comes from numerous things for me personally - physical, emotional, sexual child abuse, rapes, assaults, rapes/abuse for 6 months from 4 men 2 years ago, friends killed at VA Tech shooting, car accident, my sister attempting suicide 6 times in the last 3 months, etc. This list honestly could go on for awhile, but I'll just stop there for now...

Perspective,

Welcome!! I've had PTSD for 23 years and recently started therapy. I was afraid of drumming up all the demons and I'm a complete skeptic when it comes to letting someone in my head but so far it's helped. It might be worth a shot for you to look into it.

Thanks Kaddy. Glad its been helping :)

I've been in/out of therapy, but it was never addressed until now (been diagnosed, but the depression was more of an issue to people that diagnosed me at the time). It hasn't been until very recently when I've started to deal with all of this and it seems like everything is just getting worse, but due to recent events... its expected.

Yep I've been on meds for Depression also because the Therapist I saw felt that was the issue that needed to be addressed first. I am now seeing a different Therapist that realizes PTSD is the issue and Depression is secondary or a result of the PTSD.

It's definitely worth shopping around for a Therapist that meets your needs/wants.

Perspective11,

I am happy to hear from you. Thank you for sharing your past with us.

I hope that you'll be better soon.

Let us know how you're feeling.

Thanks Waga.

Met with my Dr today for a little while. Might put me on meds to help with PTSD - at least to help with nightmares/flashbacks... and will only be giving me a week's prescription at a time so that I don't have any impulses while blacking out.

Hi Perspective11,

I hope that meds will help and you will feel better soon. All the best on your way to combat PTSD.
:thumbs-up

Welcome to the Forum P11 :hello:

You've been through quite a lot by the sounds of it.

We're here for one other, so may you find some answers, peace, comfort, re-assure and hope on the Forum.

Johnny

Thanks Johnny...

Completely blacked out, collapsed, memory loss, panic attack, didn't know where I was, how I got there, who I was, etc. today. Not really doing well tonight because of this just seems to be getting worse instead of better.
