New Here
I joined this forum because I felt so alone and no where to turn. I, myself, do not suffer from PTSD, but dealing with the stress of living with a spouse with PTSD for over ten years now is wearing me down. I am sad and alone, and feeling guilty that Im complaining when Im the healthy one....although, I dont feel so healthy right now...

Hi Susiecakes,

My hubby was in the firebrigade here in Aus and has been diagnosed this last 6 yrs. You're doing the right thing in looking after yourself, don't feel guilty. Although I get what you mean... and I've seen others say the same thing.

Is he getting any kind of treatment at all? Lots of info and encouragement here, or take time and have a cuppa with a gf.

Welcome to the forum. I have PTSD and also support a daughter with PTSD and I know how exhausting that can be. I hope you find support and care here.

Hi Susiecakes,
When something severe hits someone, it likely hits their family too.
Suddenly there is this big new thing, and it is not a nice thing.
The ripples spread, like they do on a pond when a rock is thrown in. It can touch everything and everyone in some way.
Some couples are driven apart. Some are driven closer together. From what I know, few stay quite the same.
I was an EMT at the WTC shortly after the second tower came down.

My husband is new as far as PTSD, therefor, so am I as a supporter. I get what you mean though. I often feel sad and alone too. Sometimes it's like he's here, but no one's home upstairs. I feel like he's 110% disconnected at times, and it feels like his deployment (active duty Army) is still going on. I hope you find a lot of support here. I already have as a supporter as well.

Hi Suzycakes. Welcome to the forum. Please take care of yourself....and that include counseling for you.

Welcome to the forum Suziecakes.

I am sorry you're suffering. I hope you are able to get support on this forum.
