Hobbies

I like art and yoga and writing. But find it hard to get into it at the moment. It's the 'lack of interest in things we use to enjoy' thing.

I use to play flute but haven't in a long time. I bought some new flute music for zen, irish and asian flute. I have a guitar and ukulele and wanted to teach myself but never had the time / and now the motivation.

I loved swimming, but havent in a long time. It became about weight loss and was then stressful. I started jogging and really enjoyed the little I did, but haven't as I put so much weight. I'd like to try again swimming and paddle boarding too.

I use to canion and cave and absail. I still walk a lot, but haven't hiked anything major for a while.

I'd love to learn to sail and to fly a light plane. And to take on rapids.

I love running. And mountain hiking or walking in the countryside.

I love a film festival. I used to take a week off work and go to the festivals and watch 4-5 films a day.

I love music. Playing and listening.

I love snorkeling when on holiday. Always will book a boat trip and snorkel.
I'm not brave enough to go deep sea diving but I wish I was.

Love this thread. Thank you. It feels positive.

I love snorkling too. I'd love to suba again. And I love doing film workshops. We gave a lot in common.

Things that used to be part of my daily life (some year round, some seasonally) that I’ve had to give up (temporarily, if I have anything to say about it) :

- All of my “S” things (swimming, sailing, surfing, snowboarding, sex, sculling, shooting; rifles/pistols/archery/cameras)
- Horseback riding / training / tricks / travelling
- Reading / Writing
- Travelling
- NGO working-vacations
- Artsy stuff (drawing, painting, ceramics, glass)
- Dancing
- Martial Arts & Gymnastics & Circus Arts
- Food & Medical Gardening
- Fishing

Things I had a helluva lotta fun doing, but only did a few times
- Self sustainable community building / Estate management (they’re still up & running; but it was completely on someone else’s dime, for other people’s lives; I worked out the plans, for the most part, but others made it happen). It was wicked fun. But it was also for others, not for myself. If I ever have the capital, there are 2 projects I’d really like to do for me’self; 1 a working estate/ranch, 1+ a series of not-gentleman’s clubs for vets & badass civilians. (Not-Gentlemen’s = half old school British gentlemen’s clubs that are half hotel & playground, & half profit generating & resource building; so kinda like a monastery without the chastity & religion; a self sustaining sanctuary).
- Building / Remodeling
- Bluewater Sailing (Id like to spend a few years sailing around the world, doubt I’ll get to, but I would like to. MOST of my sailing has been super local).

Things I would like to do
1. All of my fun stuff back in my life, dagnabit.
2. The “holy trinity” of foundational learning (Sport, Musical Instrument, Foreign Language)
3. Helo pilots license??? I go back and forth on this one. But just because I may be getting too old to jump out of a helicopter, I could easily FLY for another 40 years, if I learned how.
4. Variations on a theme (like a few different kinds of artsy things, hunting in addition to fishing, breeding in addition to riding & training, etc.).

A few other things.

Your santury sounds amazing.
And, I'm with you a pilots license. I'd like to be able to travel by any means, in the drivers seat of course.
