New Here
Hi new here, at the moment I'm in between a diagnosis of PTSD with psychosis and schizophrenia, I've been comfortable coming to learn about sz, but have avoided this website until now. I've had two bouts of psychosis where my auditory hallucinations shout and scream at me to confront them, this all started occurring after I got into a fight which ended with me being kicked and stamped on by two attackers while the third used a snooker ball in a sock. since my diagnosis was questioned and the possibility that my problems may all stem from my trauma, I've been trying to come to terms with talking about it openly and this is me trying. anybody with any experience with this that wouldn't mind talking about it would be welcome, I need to come to terms with what a diagnosis of PTSD would mean for me moving forward with my life. At the moment due to the delusions I suffered during psychosis I am completely housebound by my situation.

Hi AWOL
Welcome to the forum.

You've come to a really good place for support.

I'm wondering if what you've been told are hallucinations are auditory flashbacks?
I'm not in any way doubting that you experience them. Only questioning what they might be.

About 10 percent of the population experience "voices", and 90 percent of those people who experience voices, never get a diagnosis of schizophrenia.

So experiencing voices is an uncommon, but normal part of human experience. There is an international movement to de medicalise the experience, in the Same way as gay rights, de medicalised the experience of homosexuality.

Anyway, welcome to the forum!

@Awol2k12 Welcome! :)

I am sorry to read you suffered such a vicious attack. Your introduction seemed to indicate the voices started after the attack, and if the attack resulted in head injury, have you been checked out by a neurologist to rule out any biological basis for this change? Also, are you sleeping well, as a prolonged lack of sleep can also result in hallucinations?

I hope you have a good medical team and places like this forum are great for helping a person in their recovery.
