Cutting off toxic relations was the best thing I've ever done for myself. I wish you luck in setting and maintaining the boundaries you want. It can be difficult at first (I had to move 350 miles away and stop answering my phone for a while), but it is so worth it in the end if it makes you a healthier, happier person. One of the most difficult things for me was expressing to others that I did not hate my dad, but it was making me physically ill to talk to him. His relatives all tried to tell me I needed a father and wanted to know why I was so angry. I was about the same age as you are now when this happened. I made it a point to maintain calm through any discussions about it and just repeated over and over that my decision was not made in anger, but came from a peaceful state of mind. I was doing what was healthy for me. His relatives have pretty much cut me off since then, even though I made it clear I was willing to maintain relationships with them, we only communicate every so often on Facebook.
