For the past 2 years it has always been me who fought and complained about anything that was not right, as my husband has not had the confidence to do any thing like this himself.
So it came as big surprise to hear how my husband stood up for my rights yesterday.
It all started on Tuesday when i went along to his weekly progress meeting as had been suggested, arranged and agreed to. This meeting did not go too well as far as we were both concerned, as i felt that i was no longer an important part of his care now that they were involved and my husband was stunned at the way they kept ignoring any input i had.
They might have said out right this has got nothing to do with you.
This had upset my husband a lot and he was not happy about the way i had been treated.
Yesterday while at the day centre he asked his care coordinator if he could have a 1-1 with her. This is when he came into his own again, he told her how upset he was at my treatment and how he felt about the way both she and the doctor had spoken to me as if i was not important in his care anymore. It seems she tried to pass it off, as if again this was not important, but because she had interrupted his flow, he stopped her and told her to let him finish.
He went on to tell her that i had done everything for him since his accident and had she actually read all the note i had sent in for them, which they asked for as to how he had got to this point and who had actually cared for him with no help up until now, and that there was no way they were going to push his wife to one side just because they think that i do not understand any of what has happned to him.
He then told her that he did not like what she had said about using the councilors if he starts drinking again as if, as he put it that was definitely going to happen.
OK no apologies from her for all this and he said she just went quiet and look embaressed about it all.
But it just shows that sometimes the professionals do not always act in the professional way they should.
He said a lot more but, felt so good about himself afterwards.
WAY TO GO MY WONDERFUL HUSBAND, FIGHTING SPIRIT ON ITS WAY BACK. :thumbs-up
