Hi, recently found out hubby is suffering from PTSD. He was in the army for 14 years, left about 28 years ago. About 10 years ago, just after our son was born, he started changing, i.e. drinking too much, mood swings etc but at the time we thought it was because of the alcohol. He stopped drinking but things didn't change. Just recently, after another bad day, I decided to have a look at the causes of ptsd and it was like a light went off in my head as he had many of the symptoms associated with ptsd. First thing we did was go to see the doctor who put him on anti depressants. We have also been in touch with a group who specialise in this and are now waiting for an appointment.

Hello mel62,
Welcome! I'm sorry it took so long to figure out he had PTSD but I am glad that he finally got a diagnosis. The VA (or other military type hospital depending on the country you live) is very good and helping those with combat PTSD as there are a lot of veterans coming home with it now. They have psych doctors, group therapy, meds and all sorts of things. Just a thought.

Anyway, come on over to the supporters section. And please take care of yourself.
