Hypoglycemia - the website www.hypoclycemia.asn.au has a clinical nutrition forum, and today I discovered topics that relate to various medications that have been mentioned in this forum and side effects, and those that cause low blood sugar problems.
I recommend having a look at the whole site. I believe that PTSD gets a mention too, and the clinical nutrition remedies are talked about.
I hope it is ok to cite this web address.

Being a victim of this I can tell you that having your blood sugar go nuts can make you extremely weak and tired. Energy is low and the only thing you want to do is Lay down. Your interests in things is non existent

After my experience with low sugar levels I consider it poison. It is pure and simple body poison.

Plus causing your blood sugar to go nuts take a physicl toll on your body.

I just eat tons of protein everyday now to combat it. It's the only thing that has helped me thus far...

My protein is by way of beans, nuts and my fav...Peanut Butter. Sometimes soy but not to often.

Protein protein protein. Stay the **** away from refined sugars. Use fruit sparingly. As She Cat already noted, lots of bean etc... you can also use protein powder. I look for the giant bags that are on clearance but haven't expired yet. I also use hemp seed and use it on cereals, in baked goods, soups, salads... while hemp seed doesn't have as high a concentration of protein as whey or soy protein, it is still high in it and it contains the omega 3s as well...

My hypoglycemia mimics an anxiety attack. It's also triggered a few. I guess my brain thought it was happening and just kicked the rest into the mix.

I make sure that I eat at regular intervals (more in the morning) and eat better food. I avoid sodas unless I need a sugar 'rush' to pull out of my blood sugar dropping too low. And if I do eat something with higher sugar content, I eat it after a meal.

Keeping the hypoglycemia under control has helped with symptoms so much more than I thought it would.

I'll get this myself, if I eat something with a lot of sugar. And I have a bit of a sweet tooth. I've never read of a link with PTS, BUT I don't discount anything.
I've learned if I eat a high - protein breakfast, I can get through the rest of the day no problem.

All I can do is agree 100% Refined Sugar is, IMHO, toxic to the body, and being Chocoholic makes it difficult to follow these rules.

But, I can tell you what omitting the sugar has done for my 84 yo mother. She is like night and day since getting the "sugar monkey" off her back. She feels better, has more energy and the most noticeable change---she does not need naps anymore. Plus, she is sleeping better in general.

If I can suggest something for fellow chocoholics, try dark chocolate without the sugar. Instead of doing 100 grams of milk chocolate every single day like before, I now take about 1/5 of that, but in bitter dark chocolate, about 3 or 4 times a week.

If I have a sweet tooth and I want chocolate...i will freeze a small carton of chocolate milk and then put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. It is a good low fat snack and helps with the cugar craving for chocolate that I crave at night. It can help with hypoglycenia in at is good for you...Milk does a body good!!!!!!

THANK YOU for sharing this info. I, too, tend to get low blood sugar. For me, they say, it also goes hand-in-hand with low blood pressure, and it got so bad a few weeks ago that I ended up in the hospital. The doctor did mention that I was taking quite a lot of Trazodone, and since then I've tried to cut down.

Oh..sorry to hear you suffer from this but this is a good way to increase the sugar but I hope you are testing your blood sugars and blood pressure machines at homeÉ If you donèt have would it would be a good idea. When you feel like it is low and you take it..if it is low drink a lot of fluid and have some sugar or syrup in juice...somethink like that. It will help to prevent getting to the point of needing hospital visits.

Mmm, me too, low blood sugar and pressure. They usually ask me if I'm feeling OK. It's all I know so yeah I guess I feel OK. I make a point to eat protein and have emergency protein fixes in my car, at work, nuts in my purse, etc. Eating yogurt has been a big help, bonus is that it's good for girlie issues too. I forget to eat a lot, so sometimes it hits me and it takes all I've got to just get up and eat some nuts until I'm less disoriented. Talk about b*tchy, when I don't realize yet that I haven't eaten and why I'm in that mood-ew. Feeling so disoriented makes me frustrated easily. (add PTSD to the picture too)
