When my life got really hard and I tried to commit suicide several years ago, my brother told me that God was punishing me. It made me feel absolutely awful. Though we can't see God and may all believe a bit differently, the thought of God hating or punishing you is not a good feeling.

I believe one telling another to pray and it will be okay is what a person of faith truely believes in thier heart. I understand that it seems offensive and intrusive if one is going through a difficult time in thier life.
