I Am Sleeping "Way" Too Much

Well, considering that my mystery trauma has finally surfaced for me to deal with after 40 years, I am figuring that after I recover from the shock and mental trauma of discovering I was gang raped, I won't be so tired.

I had become increasingly tired for a very, very long time. It was a slow process and now I know why. My mind and body were simply becoming exhausted keeping this secret inside. Granted, I've been sleeping a lot since the trauma showed itself but I think that is probably to be expected. I am also recovering from the intense pain that also showed up along with the memory.

I have so much to deal with right now, I am not concerned about my sleeping patterns now. I anticipated a normal pattern when this shock is over and I've gone through all the greiving and acceptnce processes.

Very good to hear! Grieving and acceptance deserve time. I hope that you can literally feel a load lift off of your shoulders soon.

There is a seasonal type of depression known as Seasonal Affective Disorder that can cause one to sleep too much as can regular clinical depression. Also Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Narcolepsy can cause this, (as can a host of other ailments). It is worth checking with your doctor to rule these out and get to the root of the problem. Keep us updated and let us know what helps you, ok?

Hi

I agree, you should get checked out. I find that all I can do is sleep when I am really depressed. I like to sleep to make everything go away. Saying that, I am better at it in the afternoons than at night. Some days I get up at 8ish and go back at 11ish. Just daily routine (very minimal at that) exhausts me. But nodding off at the computer doesn't sound right, see your Dr.

Take care

Get checked, Herc. If it is thyroid issues, they are easily remedied. I live with hypothyroidism, and my only clue was that I was so tired I could barely put one foot in front of the other. PTSD, I am told, lends itself well to causing thyroid issues.

Hi Herc... I would agree. Get the bloodwork done. My hubby also has hypothyroidism and I've seen the effects but also, because of the delayed trauma to your body, there may be something else like a hormone or something that could be contributing to the tiredness and as a3a2 said, they can be easily remedied. Any extra support for your body to recover right now will make things easier for you.
