I also would just like to clarify that I would never actually physically harm anyone, including this a-hole that attacked me. I was venting and got a bit carried away.

I am also a victim of violent crime (I was shot during an attempted carjacking), and I have had a lot of people tell me how grateful I should be that I survived. I have to say that gratitude is not one of my emotions at this point, and it makes me angry when people suggest that I should feel lucky or be grateful for any part of this situation. I understand being angry that one person can have such a profound impact on your life.
